Aside from work, I delved into exploring Belgium. I biked through charming cities, indulged in Belgian cuisine, and reveled in cultural festivals. Mechelen, where I lived temporarily, captured my heart with its idyllic charm and aesthetic. I explored cities like Antwerp, Ostende, and Brussels, visited museums, and attended events. Participating in a Belgian folk dance class was unforgettable, adding to my cultural experience.
Thanks to an introductory seminar organized by ESC, I made friends from Spain and Georgia, with whom I've remained connected. I've even visited them in their countries. Additionally, I found lifelong friends among fellow interns from the office.
Being part of the team at YFU Flanders was fantastic. They were supportive and encouraging, offering numerous opportunities for self-realization. We even had "team days" where we went out to eat or to an escape room, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie. One memorable event we organized was the "come and go picnic," expressing gratitude to the volunteers. It was a delightful way to celebrate their hard work and dedication while strengthening the sense of community within the project.
